Happy New Years!!!

Snow again...and more coming tonight! UGH!! Looks like there won't be any parties happnin' this year for me! Mike has to work anyway...in between plowing! I have been thinking about New Year's resolutions....my resolution is not to make any resolutions! Maybe a "bucket list"...but a realistic one...can't think of anything....realistically, that is. Unrealistic...I'd like to travel the USA on the back of a fully dressed Harley tour bike!! Yeehaa!! and that's funny because I really don't like travel that much...on major highways, anyway...would have to take all back roads...best way to see the country anyway. We went to Vermont and did some back roads..what a beautiful state! Can't wait to do that again! I guess also my bucket list should include a move to a warmer climate...who knows? Might just be able to accomplish that one some day! Have a great New Year everyone!!

The calm between the storms!

The sun is shining today and I feel better!! But another storm coming in tonight and in two days yet another! I blame it on all the skiers and snowmobilers...they've been praying for a winter like this..I just know it! Well, I think I will attempt to copy some files today and try to change over to my new puter....stress...just too much stress...but I want to use my new puter! How 'bout those Patriots!!?? Record breaking bunch of guys, huh??!! Hope they take the super bowl too!! They deserve it!

Snowing again....

...tell me why I live in Maine?? Course the summers are nice...but way to short! And there is beauty in the trees covered with white...but it doesn't help the cold! I guess it's the cold I dislike more than the actual snow...but it's hard getting around in it too! I will just stay in and do my thing today...difficult tho...achy weather! Been watching BBC's David Copperfield and realized that the young Copperfield was played by none other than the Harry Potter star!! A lot of familiar faces in this movie...love it!! Yesterday I watched Nicholas Nickleby...that is a fav too! I'm about do to watch Pride and Prejudice again too. Love BBC movies!! Haven't heard from my son since Christmas...do you think maybe I've offended him somehow?? Where is he??

What is it with this "after holiday" let down?? I tried so hard to keep "up"...but failing miserably! I've even started on next year's gift list! Oh well, could be all this snow we're getting. Got four inches last night and more to come tomorrow...that's enough to depress anyone! I am really excited about getting my new puter hooked up...waiting until I ache a little less before I attempt it. I also have to start copying some files I don't want to lose....esp my pix!
Again...just not up to it right now. I think I'm just plain tired actually! Hope all the children and grandchildren had a great Christmas. Love you all!

Well, Christmas is done.....

All visited out and boy am I tired!! We had fun tho...gram worries me a bit...she's just not getting around well these days and has lost enthusiasm to shop and stuff. But she's still her lovable self! Check out Pickles new sweater he got for Christmas!! He's so cute!! I think I'm gonna go to sleep now!!

There...you happy now? Boy, do I hate pix of me!! Am I old or what?? Mike's mom told me yesterday that I'm too skinny and it makes me look old!!! UGH!! Always got something to say!!! She really makes my day! Last year it was my hair she didn't like! Other than that and his "Martha-wannabe" sister, it was a good day. Hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas!! Going up to my mom's today to sit and feel like the delinquent baby sister!! Oh how wonderful the holidays are!!!! I'm ready for New Years Eve!!

It's Christmas Eve!

We already started celebrating!! Went to North Anson yesterday to celebrate with my son and his family...was a great time...except my youngest grandson wasn't there...but he called me to let me know that he loves me! And my son gave me a new computer!!! A super computer that he built himself!!! It's got a gig of ram, for goodness sakes!!! AND a dvd burner!! What more could a mom ask for???? He put lots of extras in it...and I can't wait to get it hooked up! We had so much fun! I brought some of my old recipe molasses cookies and all the fixin's to frost and decorate them...they had such a good time doing that! And I love watching them!!! Of course, they ate more candy and frosting than got on the cookies! It's my alternative to gingerbread houses...but they didn't seem to mind the change much! Notice the little mom did a baby girl gingerbread cookie!! She's so cute! Off to NH today to celebrate with Mike's family...then off to my mom's tomorrow...busy busy busy...don't know when I'll ever get to hook up the new puter!!??

Well, gonna take my chances and do some shopping today...in Portsmouth NH!! I like shopping down there, really, but being the last Saturday before Christmas...gonna be a hectic place! Oh well....you only live once, right? My very bestest friend Ruth is taking me...we have so much fun together! Gonna go to my son's house tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to a good time and good weather...at least no blizzards! I would really love to have a time when all my children are together again...for a little while anyway...that would be a great gift, wouldn't it??

Yup...more snow!!

It's snowing yet again...and winter hasn't even begun yet! The first real "winter" storm will be on Sunday...and it's supposed to sleet and rain! Go figure! I've been thinking lately about Christmas's when I was a kid...in the 50's. The best presents I ever got (in my youthful opinion) was a HUGE Christmas coloring book with a big box of crayons! The pictures in these old coloring books were very well done...Santa really looked like a Santa, not some grotesque cartoon....and homes were quaint. I have been looking around at coloring books and today...they just don't measure up! Have all the good artists all died? I have been using some old pix of the old Santa man in my painting....and find it as enjoyable as coloring all those hours in past Christmas's. And you KNOW there is nothing as pretty as a big box of new Crayolas!!! Almost hated to use them, they looked so good...almost! I also got nice dolls and skates and such...but give me a good coloring book and crayons and a warm wood stove fire any day!!

Less than a week to Christmas!!

I'm panicking!! I always think I'm ready...then at the last minute I'm racking my brain to see if I forgot something?? Did I? I don't know???? I love Christmas but will be kinda glad when the hubbub is over...that's the only part I don't like...the hubbub.....and the weather wrecking my plans!!! Is my daughter coming home for Christmas???? Hmmmmmmmmm????

The sun is shining!!

Of course it's only about 10 degrees out there...but a lot brighter!! I find that the snow is trying to interfer with my holiday plans. Would like to visit with my son and his family on Sunday...but guess what?? another storm coming in!! I think I will just have to travel anyway...just real slowly!! I have been so busy getting ready for the holidays that I was in overdrive..and now that I'm ready...can't seem to shift back into normal mode again...I'm going nuts!! Sooooo I've started painting for next year already!! Got a wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday....8x10's of all my daughter's beautiful children...all six of them...and some wallets and two 5x7's...I just love them...now I have all new pix on my living room wall and didn't have to fight with my printer to get them!! a real treat!!! Those kids are getting so big!!

Well, they've downgraded it to 8-12 inches now...which is still more than I want!! Gonna be a nasty day no matter how you look at it! Just gotta keep busy..painting..knitting..whatever. And there's no race on...that's a stinker! I really miss my Sunday races!! Can't wait for them to start up again!! I hung up some pix this morning on the wall and my arms are killing me, so I guess I'll sign off for now. Have a nice day everyone!!

Yup...more snow!!

I think Bing Crosby was sick in the head with his White Christmas stuff!! Who needs it?? What do people in warm climates do...sit around in the heat and wish for snow??? I don't think so..... We were supposed to get a couple of inches last night after midnight...got more like 6 inches and still spittin!! UNREAL!! Not to mention that they are posting cancellations already for Sunday's big ol' nor'easter!!! gonna get 12-20 inches with blowing cold winds...now doesn't that sound like a beautiful thing to wish for????? NOT!! Everyone drive safe or stay home...I worry!!

Have I mentioned.....

...that my parents gave me life but in the wrong state? That I hate snow and cold...and right now it's both!! We are getting more snow this afternoon and a nor'easter coming in on Sunday...which btw has cancelled my visiting plans yet again!! Seems like the only way to get around up here is on a snowmobile or 4 wheeler these days!! And I really think the cold just freezes my blood and makes doing the simplest things painful and impossible. I miss my kids..some in Virginia and some in the northern parts of Maine...well almost northern...but I will see the ones in Maine near Christmas..after all...they do want gifts..right? I am already feeling the 'let down' of after the rush...was really busy getting things made for Christmas...now don't have much to do...hard to get into the slower mode again...but better for my arms!! Was a painful job doing Christmas!! but I love it and love making things for the grandkids!! all 9 of them!! gotta run...later dudes!
